We take roughly 25,000 breaths per day. But how many of these do we actually notice and consciously breathe?
On Saturday 11th March Tai Tokerau Timebank Whangārei ran a Breath Workshop, skilfully led by Jo Roberts for six Timebank members and a non-member visiting from Taupō. She found the event on the local Eventfinda site and is now very keen to learn more about Timebank.
Jo guided the group through a variety of breathwork exercises, interspersed with interesting and informative theory including simple physiology and the benefits of conscious breathing. The benefits are many and with practice we can expect improvements in our physical, mental and emotional health.
By choosing how we breathe, we are empowered to break the loop of any tension or stress building up in our body and calm the mind.
St Stephen’s Church Community Rooms in Onerahi was the perfect venue for this inspirational and transformative workshop. We are very grateful to Jo for sharing her experience and skills.
This event was a great success and was made possible with the support of the Whangārei District Creative Communities Scheme.
