Fixed, fixed and fixed! - Kaitaia

We had our first morning of repairing at the new location of the Menz Shed next to Northland Waste last weekend and what a lovely morning it was. Thanks to all the Timebank members who attended and made the Repair Cafe possible and to the Menz Shed for hosting it! We repaired, chatted over a cuppa and put those skills to good use. The volunteers earned timecredits for repairing and those who needed items repairing, paid for this in Timecredits. How fabulous to give items a longer life, saving on waste, and reducing the cost to folk to get repairs done.

Jen kindly helped with paperwork and making cups of tea earning herself timecredits. Jen also brought in her espresso coffee machine that Pascal and Jatinda brought back to life and will now be donated to the Menz Shed. Jen needed some linen re-sized for her pull-out sofa, so Lyn and Anna (our sewing whizz's) spent the morning re-sizing and mending her sheets, they both did a fantastic job and Jen is very appreciative of getting the help needed. We set up a sewing bench, supplies thanks to Ano Ano which made this possible. Caryl was able to mend her favourite PJ pants with the sewing machine too, no need to buy new ones.

Did you know Pascal sharpens tools? He does a great job at it too! Anna had brought in garden loppers, secateurs and sewing scissors. All of which were sharpened and had their loose parts tightened by Jatinder to put them back into great working order. These tools are invaluable for gardening and property maintenance.

Our next Repair Cafe will be Saturday 25 May 10.30-12.30 at Menz Shed, 22 Church Road next to Northland Waste and every last Saturday of the month thereafter.

If you would like to volunteer your services at our next Repair Cafe, or any, and earn timecredits, please get in touch at kaitaiarepaircafe@gmail.com / 021 048 6394.
